Maria Gara, aka The SnakeBabe, has always had a soft spot for reptiles. Perhaps it is because she has been allergic to fur all her life. When she met Steve in Chicago she owned two snakes. Steve had a few snakes of his own so it was love at first bite, I mean sight.
Maria's budding modeling career was interrupted when she moved to Las Vegas with Steve and realized a whole new entertainment market was available. She got hooked on magic and decided she wanted to be the one to cut the girl in half.
Besides performing along side Steve in their successful variety act, she has since gone on to be an agent favorite whether they need an exotic animal handler, magician, fire eater or model.
Maria has been called America's Sexiest Magician and because of her sexy style she has become a controversial conversation piece among magicians.
Maria has appeared on many television specials both as a featured artist and off camera animal handler. Her sexy magic has been featured on Jerry Springer (should we admit to that?) and she was the finale magician on Animal Planet's "Lance Burton's Guerilla Magic."
Now for the animals, Steve & Maria's love for animals have always had them performing fun and educational shows for schools, churches, parties, etc...but it seemed the more shows they did, the more people talked about their animals. Eventually they started getting phone calls like this, "I have this snake, and it's 7 feet long now, and it bit my brother, and we don't want it anymore, and we heard you have snakes, can you take it?" And so Reptile Rescue was born.
What started as a fun side business, Reptile Rescue has become Maria's passion.
